Tips for using your candle

At EDITION AP, we advise you to burn your candle for a period of between 1 and 2 hours. This duration is optimal to allow the entire surface of the vegetable wax contained in the glass to melt evenly. Thus, a liquid layer forms and gradually descends downward over time.
By avoiding digging a hole around the wick, you extend the life of your candle. If you extinguish it too early, the natural wax may stick to the sides of the container, thus reducing the burning time.

Smother the flame rather than blowing on it

To avoid the black smoke and soot that is released when you blow out the candle, it is recommended to gently smother it by depriving it of oxygen. To do this, you can use a candle snuffer or simply cover the candle with a lid or plate. However, it is important not to use flammable material to extinguish the flame. Remember to re-center the candle wick for optimal use.

Recenter the wick after extinguishing

Indeed, cotton wicks tend to move to the sides when they burn, due to the heat. If you relight the candle without trimming the wick, one side of the candle will burn faster than the other. This situation can not only be unsightly, but also result in wasted burn time, which would be regrettable. To avoid this, we strongly recommend that you return the wick to the center of the candle after extinguishing it. To do this, you can use a toothpick or pen to avoid burning yourself. It is important to complete this step before the scented wax cools.

Trim the wick before each use

It is essential to take care of your candles to extend their lifespan and maintain a pleasant scent experience. A simple but important tip is to trim the candle wick before each use. This prevents soot emanation and too high a flame, which can cause unpleasant burning odors. After each use, your candle wick may turn black from soot. By cutting it again before relighting your scented candle, you will avoid these problems and fully enjoy your candle.
